Dance of the Hi-Tech Shaman

E.J. Gold

CDM006

The induction follows the shaman's initiation and travel between dimensions using totems to absorb the shock of transition. The shaman shapeshifts to follow his vision, threads the shawoman's labyrinth to find her in the center, dances for her and finally joins her in a serpentine dance around the tree of life.

Janitors From Outer Space

Menlo Macfarlane & E.J. Gold

CDM021

Fun, humorous trip through some very interesting locales with unique vocal interpretations by Menlo Macfarlane and E.J. Gold -- alien janitors par excellence. Add a soulful violin, accents of exotic percussion and you is well on your way. Includes an interesting array of titles, work songs and moody instrumentals. Look out your window. Now. You may see a small craft reminiscent of a flying saucer from the 50s, perhaps even resembling a hoover vacuum cleaner - canister style in powder blue with aluminum foil antennae. If so, hop right in and join those crazy janitors from outa' space while the rockets are still revving. Hang on and enjoy the ride.

Mystical Journey of the Hi-Tech Shaman

E.J. Gold

CDM024

Musical portraits: each diffusing extraordinary charm and surprising sophistication. Mystical portraits: each venturing into a musical language created at the moment. Pictured here are the influences of a friend, of a space, of a time, of a place -- of an interest to say it in rhythms, chord clashes and harmonics often ignored. There is no need to indulge in the absurdity of an artificial aestheticism when he can play. Whenever possible, leave them laughing. It will not be long before it becomes familiar, and in it one will find that ideal company that music is, when it echos your own solitude and fills it with its magic song.

Live at the Philharmonic I

E.J. Gold

CDM033

Imagine yourself floating in a sea of limitless possibilities, endless flights of imagination, a space where the journey of the soul is not bound by considerations of what can or can not be. Time seems to lose its meaning as this eclectic mixtures of sound come together to form a musical wave which takes the listener to spaces which are unique to him or her. So masterfully crafted is this music one seems to hear and experience a new space each time the CD is played.

Live at the Philharmonic II

E.J. Gold

CDM034

More orchestral majesty from the creative genius of E.J. Gold. His contemporary symphonic music is given the flair of jazz discordant harmonies - the theme swells, as themes are apt to, and the variations produced by these harmonies augment the sound, creating a space of enormous capacity. It's classical bliss - a Stairway to Heaven, if you will, but only as the Hi-Tech Shaman can offer it.

The Hi-Tech Shaman invokes his Golden Age in ritual, as clapping and footstamping rhythms give rise to percussion on sticks, rattles, re-kinto, congas, drum kit, tambourine, cymbals, brass bells. The Drone

Accardi/Gold

CDM103

This album has a variety of pieces with drone backgrounds, from East Indian to Persian sounds. The Eastern music is meditative, contemplative, inward-seeking. The drone in its many forms reminds us of the humming of bees, suggesting the mysteries of the Sarmoung Brotherhood and other ancient paths. The haunting chant, the winding notes of the flute and the life-supporting rhythms of the tablas reconstruct the dance of worker bees in their search for nectar to make honey. One's attention dips in and out, but the drone is always there - like the endless flow of Being.

This music belongs to the tradition of objective art which includes music, art, and architecture. Objective art is invocational of higher dimensions and has the inherent ability to inspire awe at the vision of the Void. When experienced in the form of music it can have a variety of effects. Objective music opens one to other spaces and takes one there. It can stir, rouse, and enliven, or make one perfectly still and centered. Sooner or later it will take you to a space your deepest self knows as home and in that sense it is profoundly shamanic.

Way Beyond the Veil

E.J. Gold

CDM118

No more bones and rattles! The Hi-Tech shaman uses the tools of modern stock and trade. But some things never change. Still there is the age-old custom of drummers forming a circle around the Shaman as he takes on visions. Moods, thoughts and postures rearrange themselves to provide for shamanic form-changes. All is focused on the one thing, whether it be felt, heard or spoken. It is not of this world but that brings no loss. This round is complete. The circle spirals like a smoke ring to other worlds, 'way beyond the veil', far beyond the beyond, in what can truly and only be appreciated as Shaman ritual.

I mean, really now, here were a bunch of fantastic musicians, all dressed in identical bald wigs, sporting the jaunty hats, sunglasses and leisure suits of the television detective, belting out tunes a la Telly with just a touch of Frank thrown in for good measure. This absolutely hysterical parody was performed with excellent musicianship, flair and humor. The Kojacks took the stage, charmed the audience and, all the while, tossed out lollipops to the punks up front. For those who have had the fortune to come to the Institute, this is the elusive jazz CD you may have heard but was never available, until now.
